I tried using twixor, which is a pretty cool program, but could not get my transcoding right with compressor to optimize my framerates. I shot in 60i with the Canon xlh1, imported to fcp with the Apple pro res codec with "all" frame rates. It took my 60fps stuff and made it in to a 29.98fps clip though you can see when it is played on the timeline at normal speed it looks smooth like 60, but its not slow mo like I wanted. I figured if you made a timeline, set your desired rate at 24fps for the base timeline playback that if you slapped a 60fps clip on it, it would automatically slow it out.

So what can I import, or transcode, my footage to, to make it genuine 60 on the timeline?
Timeline is at 24fps.

Any advice would be fantastical.

I think the step you are missing is to use Apple's Cinema Tools to conform the footage to 24fps before you bring it into FCP. Be advised though that once you use Cinema Tools to conform it is a true conform so you want to make a copy of the file to try it out first. Also, this tutorial from Philip Bloom's site will show you how and gives you even more information on how to fake a super slo mo shot (1000fps).

hope that helps
