Does anyone know or has anyone tried to put an AJA Xena card in an Intel Mac Pro? Can it be used by flashing the bios?

I have found this:
C. AJA XENA/KONA Cross-Platform use
It is worth mentioning that both XENA and KONA cards be used on either platform. Effectively, the hardware is identical (i.e. XENA 2Ke is the same as KONA 3). The term XENA effectively brands AJA’s Windows software, and KONA brands the Mac software. So an AJA card, purchased as a XENA, can be installed in a Mac. When the KONA drivers are installed with this card, it effectively becomes a KONA. This is true of a KONA card in a Windows based system as well. Installation of the XENA drivers with that card, make it a XENA even if it was purchased as KONA.

And I also found this:

On Mac: Shortly following the release of the XENA 3.5 software on windows, AJA will release AJA Mac Plug-Ins for Adobe. These plug-ins, along with the KONA drivers, will allow the use of KONA cards in Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop. These plug-ins are Mac versions of the XENA plug-ins. In their first release, a Main Concept codec will not be included with the Mac Plug-ins for Adobe. DVCProHD functionality described below in the Mac Plug-ins for Adobe will require the presence of the Quicktime DVCProHD Codec which is included in Final Cut Pro.

But what software drivers do you use? Do you have to FLASH the PC XENA card first?

Ok, I found this, and tried it, and it seems to be working just fine:

AJA XENA/KONA Cross-Platform use
It is worth mentioning that both XENA and KONA cards be used on either platform. Effectively, the hardware is identical (i.e. XENA 2Ke is the same as KONA 3). The term XENA effectively brands AJA’s Windows software, and KONA brands the Mac software. So an AJA card, purchased as a XENA, can be installed in a Mac. Installation of the XENA drivers with that card, make it a XENA even if it was purchased as KONA.

The XENA and KONA cards are the exact same card. You just need to make sure to install the PC software on when installed on the PC and the Mac software when installing the card on your Intel Mac Pro. Either way, the software and the mac or pc system will either see the card as a KONA or XENA card, respectively.

Hope this helps!
