Yall know if you can take a fcp 7 timeline xml in to the final cut studio 2 version of color and do your work in color from there?
Any insight would be appreciated.

I assume that it would work since the language that Final Cut Pro is using to communicate to Color is xml based. Try it and post your results, in theory it should be fine.
We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

I know this is an old thread but in case anyone looks it up later, if you're importing to Color from FCP 6 (FCS 2), you'll want an XML version 4 file. I graded a feature earlier this year that was cut in FCP 7. My client gave me XML 4 files and it went off without a hitch.
