A few months ago I upgraded my OS to leopard. I work with FCP 5.0.4 and DVD Studio Pro 4.0.3. Since upgrading to leopard OS i have been able to encode, author and burn dvds. However, recently every time i go to burn a dvd DVD SP freezes and then shuts down. I have tried to install a DVD Studio Pro update for 4.0.3, I have completed all software updates and I have been able to burn an audio cd. I was wondering if anyone has any idea what I'm doing wrong and what I could do to remedy this problem. Thanks.

Have you tried creating an image (.img) file instead, then using disk utility to burn the .img file onto a blank DVD-R?

I tried to build/format but DVD Studio Pro crashed again. Now what?

Exactly at what step does it crash? Right after you click Build or Burn? Or in the middle?

I build the dvd, using a dvd studio pro template, and then when i click on build/format the cursor goes into the spiral pinwheel and then crashes. I then get the apple window of sending a report to apple, relaunch or ignore.

I never get close to a burn.

Have you reinstalled DVD Studio Pro and/or trashed the preference files?

Something similar happened to me, I could not burn DVDs in Imovie or DVD studio, so I got a sony external dvd burner, and I dont have any problem now.
I thought it was the discs I was trying to burn at first, but I think its a glitch in my superdrive.

I'll usually just create a .img file from within DVD Studio pro and then open up the img file in Disk Utility and burn my discs from there. Then I always have a rendered image file of my DVD handy for quick copies.
