Just got done doing a long project with MC. If you have not given it a try you are truly missing out. Most NLE's do about the same job when doing the rough cut. When it comes to the fine tune trimming though nothing including the legacy FCP comes even close. just my 2 pennies. I'm glad Apple effed up FCP other wise I probably would not have ever given MC a chance.

Were you on 5.5 or Media composer 6? What was the biggest hurdle to overcome in the switch?

I started using Avid 5.5 about a month before they came here to do their demo with SLCCUT. I loved that too. Avid 6 being 64 bit provides a noticeable speed difference. Also, AMA linking with AVCHC is a major time saver for me. I know they burned a lot a bridges several years ago but I do not understand why so many people are reluctant to try it. Seems like most people want to switch to Premier. Maybe it is because they already have it due to After Effects. I used Premier for several weeks because I had it right FCP X came out and I just wasn't feeling it. It tried to feel like FCP 7 but fails.

I'm currently cutting some things in Avid 6 -- It's a clunky design, I'll have more to report after I cut a few projects on it.
