I have always wanted to setup a 5.1 Surround Mix Environment for Final Cut and Soundtrack Pro. I have searched the internet for an PCI Express audio card that will allow me to setup a 5.1 environment. I'm just not quite sure what hardware I need in order to accurately connect 5 speakers to my Quad Core Mac Pro.

Has anyone done this out there? Any links and suggestions would be great!

I'd check the MOTU website (Mark of the Unicorn). They have a bunch of audio interfaces, in/out that uses a firewire or USB input.

www.motu.com/products/motuaudio/

I'm not seeing anything specific about "Final Cut Pro", but I'll bet it would work with most software.

Tucker, which specific product are you referring to? That link takes me to a bunch of varying products. Thanks!

I don't have one to specifically recommend. I just thought of MOTU as a heavy audio company from back in the day. Any of their audio interfaces can integrate with software like logic pro, so I assume Final Cut would be similar?

http://www.motu.com/products/motuaudio/ultralite-mk3/ looks like a decent one. It is just an input/output interface.

There are also PCI based ones, I'm not sure if those would be better.

Just a thought. I'll see if I can find a specific card, I do know one company that has their FCP through a 5.1 setup.
