We have a .mov file that needed to be edited in avid. We downloaded the codec "DNxHD" so we could encode it as such. After we encoded it it would not play in final cut or QT 7xx. I took the file into "videospec" which give us info on the file. It tells us in order for it to play we needed the DNxHD codec. It told us it was installed, but it still does not play in FCP or QT.

Have they tried playing the exported .mov file with the AVID DNxHD codec on the PC system yet?

Yes, how can you play it back in Final Cut?

Did it playback ok on the PC Avid system or not? As far as playing back in Final Cut Pro, it should just fine, as long as the codecs are installed correctly.

installed codec and it said it was installed but still no playback. I assumed it did Glenn gave it back to them. We just went through the install dialog box and it said it was installed, but still no playback.

I installed it by clicking on the package icon. It finished by saying it was installed. No luck playing in FCP.

Brian,
I don't think the codecs are going to play in FCP, but they will definietly let you convert using compressor or MPEG streamclip.

But if they play in Quicktime, they should play in FCP right?
