According to press releases, Burns’ “The National Parks” is a 12-hour, six-part film that will air on PBS stations beginning Sept. 27.
The film, narrated by Peter Coyote with actors Tom Hanks, Andy Garcia and others lending their voices to the footage, is a story full of struggle and conflict, set against the most breathtaking backdrops imaginable.
Filmed over the course of six years at some of nature’s most spectacular locales — from Mt. Rainier and Arches to Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon — the documentary is a story of the people who devoted themselves to preserve the land they loved.
As an added highlight, Burns will share previously unscreened portions of this documentary at his Northridge High School lecture and will tell the stories from beyond the screen.
The special evening is hosted by Davis School District, the Davis Education Foundation and the Davis Reads program.
