On Aug. 18th a wide variety of locally produced short films will be shown on the Pictureline big screen. Attendance is limited to the first 100 people. Sign-up today! Pictureline is also holding a motion-picture event that includes hands on with products like: Canon video enabled DSLR’s, Carl Zeiss Compact Prime lenses, Sennheiser audio equipment, Redrock Micro, Marshall Monitors, Zoom audio recorders, and more.
Throughout the day Pictureline will address some of the technical challenges associated with DSLR video such as: camera movement, multiple camera coverage, low-light videography, and synchronized sound. We will have manufactures representatives from Canon, Carl Zeiss, and Sennheiser.

Apple's Final Cut Studio 3 professional video and audio production suite to update only half of its applications.
While details are limited, people with inside knowledge of Apple's plans for FCS say the suite will introduce major new versions of Final Cut Pro (v7.0), Motion (v4.0), and Soundtrack Pro (v3.0). The remainder of the application upgrades will reportedly consist of point release, and include Color (v1.5), Compressor (v3.5), and DVD Studio Pro (v4.2.2). It appears as if Apple doens't see a future in DVD, and that DVD studio pro will eventually fall by the wayside to more streamlined, economical online distribution methods.

Panasonic is making a huge announcement at NAB 2009 with the showcasing of 3D production systems. Along with a full HD plasma home theater display, Panasonic has also presented a conceptual model of a high definition 3D camcorder. Previous 3D productions, including those highlighted in Panasonic's home theater display, were shot by rigging multiple 2D camcorders together to create the 3D environment. In an attempt to simplify 3D production, Panasonic's concept model features a twin-lens system for capturing 3D footage using only one camcorder.
