Final Cut Pro files can sometimes become corrupt and utterly useless, much like many of the corporate executives and high-profile politicians across the United States. Ok, let's use another analogy, how about the original Nintendo cartridges, do you remember those? Such as the original Mario Brothers, you'd stick the big square game cartridge in the Nintendo and try as you might you just couldn't get the Nintendo system to recognize the dumb thing. You'd blow it, shake it, pound it, and then wedge the catridge in there until it would finally work.

After all the signs have come down and the movie posters put away, another major film festival in Utah is just getting started. And those at the Foursite Film Festival are looking for people who want to learn-and be Apple-certified to operate-Final Cut Pro 6. The training precedes this year's Foursite Film Festival, March 4-7. In its sixth year, the festival proves to be the best ever.

This training opportunity might be interesting. Weynand is a mobile training institue that provides a circuit of certified expert trainers to come to a city near Salt Lake and teach Apple courses, some with the goal on mind of certification. Please view the schedule to see what classes are held near you. |

Predators are usually at the top of the food chain. Natural selection at its best. If you are the biggest predator in town you certainly have a Darwinian advantage over most other foodstuffs in your surrounds. In the production world, especially in a smaller market like Salt Lake, the Producer-Editor otherwise known as the “Preditor” has certain advantages as well. With skills as both an editor and producer you will raise your value to small productions, but more importantly knowledge that you gain as a producer will help you in the editing process and vice versa.

So last spring I signed up for a Final Cut crash course at NAB. A two day course taught by Future Media Concepts (embed link) which culminated with a test and certification for basic Final Cut Certification (the 1st of 3 levels). I don’t know if a crash course is for everyone, but if you like to drink from a fire-hose, this may be the solution for you.
